Q2: Help! Just Found out my ''plastic Surgeon'' is Not Board Certified
Procedure?
+
I already put down $1,000 & I have my surgery scheduled. I've been thinking about a tummy tuck for a couple years,& visited this same doctor 2 years ago. At the time his receptionist told me he was a board certified plastic surgeon. When I looked online it said board certified, but I just found out that it only says board certified next to optamologist and not plastic surgery. I found about 8 reviews on him and they were all really bad. I don't know what to do but I don't want to lose my 1,000.
A: Board Certified plastic surgeon for tummy tuck
Tummy tuck is not a simple plastic surgery procedure. Those plastic surgeons that are board certified have to not only show expertise and experience in plastic surgery but also sound judgment. There are two reasons why a plastic surgeon is not board certified. Either they are very early in their practice and have not yet taken their boards, or that they were not able become board certified. Each one of these factors are important in making your decision with respect to safety and expected outcome of your tummy tuck Beverly Hills.

Q3: Tummy Tuck Seroma? Fluid Won't Drain.
+
3 weeks post FTT. Drains removed one week ago and swelling worsened. Yesterday, I noticed when I push on a large lump in my pubic area, I can see the fluid displace and come up in my lower left abdomen. I can see the "waterbed effect" when I lie down and push on parts of my lower abd. and the hard spot in my pubic area disappears and is flat again. PS tried aspiration (placed syringe in lower left abdomen) but nothing would come out. Could it be something else? What can I do?
A: Seroma aspiration after tummy tuck is common
It is common to experience a seroma after a tummy tuck Beverly Hills. Often if your plastic surgeon can't aspirate from one area he can try aspirating from another area. Also it is very important to keep your activity level to a minimum and wear a tight binder to keep pressure over this area.

Q4: Kidney Transplant and Tummy Tuck
+
I received a kidney transplant in 2008. I am scheduled to have gastric bypass next week and want to know if I can have a tummy tuck to get rid of the excess fat after I have reached my desired weight?
A: kidney transplant is not a contraindication to tummy tuck
I have previously had a patient who had kidney transplant prior to her tummy tuck Beverly Hills. There is no problem with having a tummy tuck as long as your general doctor is aware of it and can optimize your medications for your surgery.

Q5: How Can I Tell if I Tore my Tummy Tuck Internal Sutures or Worse?
+
I had a tummy tuck with muscle repair 2-1/2 weeks ago I slipped and fell flat on my back. I felt a pull in my abdomen. Could I have harmed my muscle repair or busted internal sutures?
A: It is possible to tear some of your sutures but probably not all of them
Although it is possible that you might have torn one or two of them it is unlikely during a tummy tuck Beverly Hills. Some surgeons, including me, use multiple independent sutures so that if one tears the other ones are still good. The best way of knowing if you need to have anything done is to wait for several weeks until the initial inflammation subsides. If you develop local bulging in the midline which gets worse with straining then you should have it evaluated by your plastic surgeon.

A:Vicryl Suture reaction and Abscess formation is expected !!!
Many patients develop strong reaction to Vicryl sutures and develop areas of suture abscess which look like small pimples with puss drainage. The best treatment is to wash them, and keep them clean and not to let them get too moist. Hydrogen peroxide or alcohol can help.

+
I'm considering a tt but I'm concerned with the way my belly button will look. I've seen pics of tt and belly buttons look either too big or not natural.

During a tummy tuck Beverly Hills it is possible to re-design the shape of the umbilicus. You need to discuss this in advance with your plastic surgeon.

Q10: Is 71 Years Too Old for Tummy Tuck?
+
71 year old. 2 wks ago had neck lift. did fine. cleared by doctors after 20 plus years with rapid heart beat condition, using metropol 25MG each day with no more pt's. Also taking anti seizure, and tia meds after a recent blurred vision issue. no more incidents. I was cleared by heart and neurologist that my 2 hour neck lift procedure would not be a problem. What advice do you have for me.
A: It is not the age but overall health that determines your safety of surgery
I have performed abdominoplasty and other body contouring procedures on several women who were in their 70s. As long as you are in good physical condition and your cardiologist and neurologist clears you for a 3-4 hour surgery under general anesthesia, you should in general do well. Ultimately, it is the decision of your surgeon and the board certified anesthesiologist who are going to perform your tummy tuck Beverly Hills.

Q14: Tummy Tuck or Exercise More?
+
I had a pituitary adenoma and gained weight very quickly. I have been exercising-- and am 5'6 at 220. it seems the bulk of everything is on my ab! Is it stupid to get a tuck at this weight-- or should I just continue to hit the gym?
A: Large volume Liposuction an option for localized fat areas
Although it is a very good idea to continue exercising and losing weight, some patients have localized area of fat in the upper abdomen and the flanks that are stubborn. In these patients, an option may be large volume liposuction of the abdomen, followed by a tummy tuck Beverly Hills at a later date. I have had patients who with this approached went from size 26 to 14.

Q15: When Will I Feel Normal After Full Tummy Tuck?
+
I had my Full Tummy Tuck Lipo on hips ,waist under and sides of breasts Breast lift with implant .3 weeks ago after the operation I needed two blood transfusions had a chest infection so I had two lots of steroids .I still do not feel well ,tired al of the time weepy I still can't stand up straight still feel very tight and very swolen .when can I expect to feel a bit more normal ?
A: The body takes time to heal after a Tummy Tuck!
Different people heal differently, and there are different types of Tummy Tuck Beverly Hills procedures. But usually, most of my patients go back to their routine work activities in two weeks, and do light exercising in 4 weeks, with no sit ups. Most people feel their normal self in about 8-12 weeks, but will still have some bad days, here and there, for up to 6-8 months more.

+
A: Tubal Ligation and Tummy Tuck can be done at the same time

Q18: What Are the Benefits of Tummy Tuck Muscle Tightening?
+
I am 3 weeks post-op from Breast Lift and Tummy Tuck. My surgeon didnt have to tighten my abs, so I believe my healing would be faster. He said I didnt need it done. In any case, what are the benefits of having it done?
A: Abdominal muscle tightening is key to getting a flat abdomen
Most typical patients that seek abdominoplasty Beverly Hills do it because they had developed excess abdominal skin due to pregnancy or weight loss. In both of these patients, there is usually significant loss of abdominal wall strength which results in a "pouch". Therefore, it is essential to tighten the abdominal muscle; otherwise the patient would not get a flat abdomen. I cannot comment about your specific case, since I have not examined you, but I suspect that if you have had pregnancies in the past, you would have benefited from tightening of your abdominal muscle.

Q19: Darkened Belly Button After Tummy Tuck
+
I had a Tummy Tuck 6 months ago, and my belly button is very dark and big/swelling. What caused this, and can this be corrected? Is there a topical treatment that can make it return to its normal skin color? Would I still benefit at this stage from using a silicone sheet for my scar? Thanks!
A: Belly Button skin color is often darker than the abdominal skin
I have had several patients of mine who have had a similar experience with darkness of the umbilicus. I have noted that in these patients the skin color of the deep part of the umbilicus is much darker than the rest of the abdominal skin. Usually this skin color is hidden with the loose surrounding skin, and become apparent only after tightening the skin. The only remedy for this is to make the umbilicus smaller, and to make it look deeper in order to hide it.

Q20: Tummy Tuck Scar After 10 Weeks - Hyperpigmentation Problem
+
Ten weeks ago I had a full Tummy Tuck, and 4 weeks after, I had a small correction of hematoma that didn't heal and the skin was peeled off. Around this correction, hyper pigmentation started, and now it looks really ugly. Is it normal to get hyper pigmentation in this area post-Tummy Tuck, and will it fade away in time? What can I do to make it disappear?
A: Hematoma worsens hyper pigmentation but it will fade
Any amount of subcutaneous blood such as a hematoma can cause pigmentation or hyper pigmentation, especially in a person with a darker skin. This will usually fade over 9 month.
It is critical to avoid sun bathing or tanning during this period in order to avoid permanent hyper pigmentation.
Keeping the skin moist with oily lubricants helps the health of the skin during this period. some doctors feel that bleaching creams such as Hydroquinon are effective but in my opinion they don't make a lasting difference. It just takes time!

Q21: Loose and Saggy Upper Abdomen After Tummy Tuck
+
I had a full Tummy Tuck 6 months ago. After the procedure, my surgeon told me that since my belly button was 'high' to begin with, he was able to leave it intact after the Tummy Tuck. My fear is that this really translates into, "I didn't remove as much skin as I should have." I now have a taut lower abdomen, but the entire area above my navel is loose and saggy. Last week, my surgeon performed laser skin tightening on my upper abdomen (his solution). I am not at all convinced that this will remedy the problem. Is this a normal result, or am I right to have expected better? I am not overweight and I have done regular abdominal workouts both pre and post surgery. Thank you!
A: A mini-tummy tuck does not tighten the upper abdomen
It seems that at your initial procedure you only had a mini-tummy tuck. If you did not have an incision around your umbilicus, then the upper abdomen was most likely not touched- muscle was not tightened and the excess skin was not removed.
I don't believe that laser tightening is going to give you the same tightening of the upper abdominal skin as a full tummy tuck would have accomplished.
Unfortunately, you might eventually have to have a full abdominoplasty and not a mini-tummy tuck Beverly Hills.

Q22: Is Tightness After Tummy Tuck Normal?
+
I'm a 60-yr old female with good physical health. I had a Tummy Tuck on 5 weeks ago, and now I am having a lot of tightness. One day I think I'm progressing well, and then the next I feel as if I've stepped by several days. I have been wearing a fairly tight compression garment and am uncomfortable without it. I thought I would start feeling better and not as tight as time goes on but haven't. Is this tightness normal at this stage? Also, should I change to a less fitting garment? Please provide any additional suggestion for a speedier recovery. This surgery has really taken its toll on me. I don't seem to be improving as quickly as I feel that I should.
A: Tightness of abdomen is normal and will ease up in 6 weeks.
It is very normal and expected to feel tight around your abdomen after a tummy tuck Beverly Hills because this procedure is designed to tightened the loosened abdominal wall. Most of my patients complain of abdominal tightness for the first week after surgery, which gradually goes away by six weeks after surgery.

Q23: Is It Normal to Feel a Pinching Sensation After Tummy Tuck and Liposuction?
+
I had a Tummy Tuck with Liposuction two months ago and I am now feeling a pinching sensation only on my left side. It feels like a needle being stuck on me, and it happens every so often, especially when I'm outside. My surgeon said it might be the veins reattaching themselves, but it scares me that it's only on my left side. Is this normal? What could be causing it?
A: It is normal to get this feeling after Tummy Tuck and Liposuction
As the feeling over the abdomen starts to return after tummy tuck Beverly Hills, all patients start to experience the sensation of pin prickes, or jabbing, or twitches. This is a very normal and expected feeling which will gradually go away over the next six months.
Massaging these areas and keeping them moisturized, helps to make it feel better and less sensitive.

Q24: No Muscle Tightening After Tummy Tuck?
+
I had a Tummy Tuck about a year ago. My tummy is functionally satisfactory; the apron is gone but cosmetically less so. My flanks bulge and the surgeon kept my navel, even though it's much darker than the rest of my tummy. Most annoyingly, if I don't hold it, I have this hanging globular abdomen again. Is this normal after Tummy Tuck? I am starting to believe that my surgeon did not attempt any muscle tightening. Am I right?
A: You might have gained weight after your tummy tuck
I don't know exactly what your surgeon did, but if your abdomen did initially appear tight after surgery, and then it started to bulge gradually, then this could be because of you gaining weight. I have had patients who have not watched their diet afterward and have gained weight. Often times, the added weight accumulates in the intestinal fat or "viseral fat," which causes the abdomen to bulge out.
First, try to lose some weight and then talk to your surgeon.

Q25: Can You Get Back Pain Relief with a Tummy Tuck?
+
Can a tummy tuck decrease the pain and frequency of back aches?
A: Tummy Tuck can improve posture and back pain
I have had several patients with chronic back pain, who had reasonable improvement with their back pain after a tummy tuck Beverly Hills. These were patients that had a very large and hanging abdominal pannus.
I suspect that besides removing the heavy abdominal pannus, the tightening of the abdominal muscles helps to strengthen the core, and thus also help with the back pain.

Q26: Who Should Consider a Tummy Tuck?
+
How do I know if a tummy tuck is a good option for me?
A: Tummy Tuck vs Liposuction
The most common question in the mind of patients that are considering a tummy tuck Beverly Hills is: Do i need a tummy tuck or could I have liposuction, instead?
While tummy tuck is designed to remove loose abdominal skin and to tighten abdominal muscles, a liposuction only removes excess abdominal fat. Therefore, if you predominately have excess abdominal fat, then liposuction is a better choice for you. Many women who have had children find that despite losing weight after their pregnancy they still have a "pooch". This is not due to excess fat but as a result of abdominal wall laxity, its correction requires a tummy tuck Beverly Hills or a "mommy make over" which is a combination of a tummy tuck and breast lift!

Q27: Reach Weight Loss Goal Before Tummy Tuck Surgery?
+
I have lost 100 pounds so far and am planning on a tummy tuck. I have 30 pounds to go until I reach my goal weight of 135. Can I go ahead and get the tummy tuck or wait till I reach my goal? I'm very happy about the weight loss but I can't stand the loose skin.
A: Tummy Tuck After Massive Weight Loss
When patients start to lose weight, they sometimes get so excited that they don't know when to stop! They also forget that the hanging abdominal pannus also weighs a lot by itself. Losing too much weight is not good! Becuase then, your face, buttocks, and breasts start to hang too much and you will look bad.
I usually tell my patients who are close to their optimal weight not to lose weight because I will liposuction the extra fat from around their abdomen and flanks at the time of their tummy tuck Beverly Hills. This way they can maintain their facial, breast, and buttock fullness.

Q28: No Tightness or Pain After Tummy Tuck and Liposuction
+
I had a Tummy Tuck with Liposuction 6 days ago, and am able to do everything in exactly the same manner as before, with no pain or discomfort of any kind. I can also still grab a handful of skin on each side of my belly button. Are these normal? Shouldn't there be a least a sensation of tightness after these procedures?
A: You might have had a Mini-Tummy Tuck instead
You are correct to be concerned. All my patients always complain of being too tight after surgery and not to be able to stand up straight for few days after, due to tightness of abdominal skin. Most likely, you did not have enough skin removed, or you might have had a Mini-tummy Tuck with liposuction, instead of a tummy tuck Beverly Hills.
I recommend that you review many before-and-after pictures of patients that have had a tummy tuck by the plastic surgeon that you are considering before you schedule your surgery.

Q29: Pubic Area Appears Bigger After Tummy Tuck
+
I'm now 6 weeks post-Tummy Tuck, and I am pleased with the results. However, I'm bothered that my pubic area appears to be 2-3 centimeters higher/bigger that it was pre-operation. My underwear used to cover the area completely, but now they don't. Is this normal? Will the skin eventually stretch back to its place?
A: Unfortunately you incision line and pubic area would not come down with time!
This is a not an uncommon problem and the reason for its occurrence is that the incision line was not initially drawn low enough to take into account for its superior migration by the pulling of the upper abdominal tight skin. Fortunately, this can be often be corrected or improved upon by scar revision.
